MASON COTTAGES

The Mason Cottage project utilizes Portland's latest Cottage Cluster zoning code to create eight detached houses for low-cost homeownership. Located on two separate but adjacent parcels, each parcel contains four units, that are then mirrored around a large central greenspace. The site contains multiple mature coniferous trees in the middle of the site - we created a site plan that worked around them, and we took design inspiration from the forested site, creating a modern woodland cottage design. Creating an efficient design is key to keeping these units affordable. All units utilize the same base layout - the 3-bed units at the front of the site are the same floor plan as the 2-bed units, but with an added mass that contains the garage on the first floor and the primary ensuite on the second floor.
